Burnsall to Grassington via Linton
As we arrived in Burnsall around 10.30, some of us parked in the barriered car park, which is £3 per day. The rest of our group decided to park over Burnsall bridge at £5 per day! Unlucky. We set off on our walk past the Red Lion, using the riverside footpath towards Linton. A fine, easy walk that everyone should do at least once in their lives. After using the stepping stones or for some, the Linton bridge, we had more stepping stones that took us to Linton church. A decision was made after a general vote on whether to call for a drink or two at the Fountain Inn, about half a mile detour. Great decision! Lovely beer and tea, and also perfect for a break for lunch. We carried on the waymarked path to Grassington, which was about 11/2 miles. As usual at this time of year, it was busy. We originally planned to have lunch here, and we were quite happy we chose Linton instead. After a visit to the Black Horse for further refreshment, we retraced the pathway, taking in the many pretty sights and teenagers daringly jumping from craggs into the river, looked like fun! as we arrived back in Burnsall, we decided more refreshment was in order, and called at the busy Red Lion. A very steady and relaxing day we all had.
