April Heptonstall to Hardcastle Crags 7.5 mile circular, with bits added on!
Due to many unforeseen circumstances, only seven of the group attended this much anticipated walk. Fi was the main leader, with help from Paul. Starting form Heptonstall, we descended down extremely steep hills, too enthusiastically, as we missed where we should have turned. From then on, until we reached Hardcastle Crags, we made up our own pathway, thinking we were using the map correctly! It's always fun when we go wrong! As usual, the walk was extended to around 9 miles, but like the last time we were here in Halifax, the scenery was spectacular. Of course the end of the walk pub was much needed, and Paul found us a quite unusual one this time. The Fox and Goose is a community owned and run pub, in fact the first in West Yorkshire! http://www.foxandgoose.org Full of locals enjoying beer, free bar snacks and conversation, a bit like the last chance saloon, but we were accepted as guests very quickly. I've included some links that should be helpful below.
