Skipwith Common and lunch at the Drovers Arms
Our February walk was a very easy but enjoyable visit to the nearby area of Skipwith Common near Selby. The old airfield memorial site within the area is small but worth a visit. There is a wind up speaker which worked and gave information and accounts of people involved during World war 11.
The walk is flat and has many paths, so care is taken or you may end up going round in circles! The yellow route is about 5.5 miles long, but there's plenty to look at from wildlife, old machinery and a rare breed of wild sheep, which actually eat bramble. Eventually, we arrived at our chosen pub, the Drovers Arms. It was quiet before we turned up, but I'm sure Martin the landlord was happy with our custom! Many photos have been taken, watch out for a couple of photos of a"photoshoot" of a blonde girl with a mask on, and an aeroplane which appears to be stuck in a tree. |
