Flamborough August 2018
Our fourth walk this year, Flamborough is the only place we walk year after year. The weather is always warm and sunny here, although rain was forecast. Just eight of us did the full route of nine miles, which includes North Cliff and Thornwick Bay. After breakfast in the Lighthouse Cafe we headed for South Landing, then inland to Flamborough village and The Rose & Crown pub. The meals being served looked lovely but we had dinner at the Lighthouse to look forward to, so just drinks here; the secret beer garden was a nice bonus.
From the pub we continued to North Cliff and Thornwick Bay, this is clockwise and around half-way. we looked out for puffins, but most had flown their nests; if there were any still there we didn't see them. Onwards to North Landing where we saw many people in the cliff caves, mainly in wetsuits as the tide was in. It was a long way to go to have a look, more refreshments needed here!
This is the final leg of around 2 miles with many steep paths uphill. I'm sure someone suggested going anti-clockwise for a change!
Back at the Lighthouse for 17:30 we just made it for food and drinks, another great day was enjoyed by all.
