Linton near Collingham, our tenth group walk.....15th September, 2013
Walkers: Avril & JJ, Cath & Mick, Billy, Anita & Roger, Joan & Fiona, Paul & Tim, Joan & Phil
Start & Finish: Windmill, Linton Weather: Windy & Cool Distance: About 5 miles Difficulty: Easy Points of Interest: Wood Hall, Views of Wharfedale We were expecting bad weather today, and also we had a few "walking wounded" in our group. That's why we decided to do an easy going, short walk. Leaving the Windmill car park, we carefully crossed the road, onto the lane leading to Wood Hall. Soon we were turning right at the way marker. We walked through pleasant fields, and woodland tracks, following the easy route. Eventually we reached a cross path, where, if you want to do around 7 miles, you can turn right and follow the well marked path. We turned left, down a rocky path. This brought us up to the side of Wood Hall, and the track road leading back to Linton. |
Arriving back at the Windmill, we noticed it was the quickest walking route we have done so far! Not a problem, as it was just about to rain, and we were ready for food and drink. The pub was very well run, bar staff friendly and efficient. We took over a section of the pub, and enjoyed our refreshments. Soups, salads, fish dishes and sandwiches were very well presented, as were the drinks. A great get together as usual! I'm sure the next walk will be a little more demanding.
