Cave Castle, South Cave, Everthorpe and North Cave.
One of our largest group walks to date, this Sunday walk had a few casualties. Before we even started, one went home feeling sick, another had a fall and was taken home shaken up. Another two couldn't make the walk but one came for late lunch with us. And yet another had made arrangements they'd forgotten about. If you've kept up, yet another one couldn't come! Then we had another addition to the group. In the end, we had twenty walkers out of twenty-seven starters!
I would like to thank Ewa and Paul for sending me photos to use in our gallery, and I have used many from my photo shots of the day.
We started from the the Cave Castle car park heading East from South Cave village. This was a long uphill mile or so, and the hardest part of the walk. By now we were well into the Yorkshire Wolds, and views across to High Hunsley and Drewton could be enjoyed. There are many rolling hills around the Wolds, but our walk route steered around them, with only slight ascents and descents. As we approached North Cave the front walkers headed straight on to the White Hart pub. As this was not planned, the remaining seven carried on to Everthorpe. With hindsight, this would have been a perfect stop for everyone as it hardly added any mileage to the eight mile route. Instead we arrived back nearly an hour before our arranged time of 15:30 for lunch. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy a couple of drinks and relax. The Sun was out, the patio area was spacious and comfortable, so why not? The Cave Castle is a marvellous venue for lunch or even a game of golf. The link is below:
